Queen Elizabeth Park Vancouver Proposal — Michelle & Ricardo

I was photographing a wedding at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver when I happened to see a man waiting on the bridge with a very obvious look of anticipation on his face. A moment later, he dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend. My bride, who had spotted what was happening too, was immediately invested and insisted that I go photograph it. So I quietly made my way over and captured the moment as she realized what was happening.

The bridge, surrounded by the gardens and greenery of Queen Elizabeth Park, made for such a naturally intimate setting. One of Vancouver’s most beautiful and popular locations for wedding and engagement photography, the park sits at the highest point in the city, with colourful gardens, dramatic landscapes, and views stretching toward the North Shore Mountains.

What made it even more special was that this wasn't supposed to be a photography session at all. I was simply in the right place at the right time, and happened to have a camera in my hands when their lives changed! A year later, when Michelle and Ricardo were planning their wedding, they reached out to me for their engagement session, bringing the story right back to where it had unexpectedly begun.
