Ellie and Braden’s wedding brought together a beautiful Vancouver setting and a celebration that felt completely their own. The day began at Queen Elizabeth Park, where they held their ceremony beside the Duck Pond, surrounded by the park’s expansive green space, colourful flowers, and lush foliage. My second photographer and I covered the full day, capturing everything from the ceremony and portraits to the people and moments happening throughout the celebration.
After spending time around Queen Elizabeth Park for photos, everyone headed to Seasons in the Park for the reception overlooking Vancouver. The evening was filled with great food, plenty of laughter, and a few unexpected highlights—including karaoke, which quickly became one of the most memorable parts of the night.

Before the Ceremony
Before the ceremony, the wedding party gathered around the Duck Pond at Queen Elizabeth Park as the final pieces of the day came together. The groomsmen and bridesmaids spent time together taking photos while the flowers arrived and the ceremony space began to take shape. Chairs and the floral arch were set up beside the pond, surrounded by the greenery and open space that make this one of Vancouver’s most recognizable outdoor wedding locations. There was plenty happening before the ceremony, giving us lots of opportunities to photograph the people, details, and anticipation building around Ellie and Braden’s wedding.
Getting ready photos don’t look the same for every wedding. For some, it means capturing moments of getting their hair and make up done with the girls… or having a laugh with the boys. For some, it’s getting the last-minute details ready and hanging out with your best friends at the venue. No matter what ‘getting ready’ means to you, I am there to capture your special day from the very start.
The First Look
Queen Elizabeth Park gives couples plenty of beautiful surroundings for portraits, with winding paths, mature greenery, flowers, bridges, and different areas to explore throughout the grounds. First-look photographs can be especially beautiful in a setting like this, where there are plenty of natural backdrops without everything having to feel overly staged. The combination of the gardens and open spaces around the Duck Pond creates a variety of looks within a relatively small area. The Guests Arrive
As the ceremony approached, family and friends began arriving at the Duck Pond and finding their seats. Ellie and Braden were surrounded by guests of all ages, including grandparents, close friends, and family who had come together from different parts of their lives. Ellie’s mom arrived wearing beautiful traditional Korean clothing, adding another meaningful personal element to the celebration. With the park filling up around them, the relaxed atmosphere of the afternoon gradually gave way to the anticipation of the ceremony.
The Ceremony
Ellie and Braden’s ceremony took place beside the Duck Pond, with flowers framing the ceremony space and Queen Elizabeth Park providing a naturally beautiful backdrop. Their dog even had an important job as the ring bearer, making his way down the aisle with the rings and becoming one of the memorable characters of the ceremony. The Duck Pond area has a surprisingly large open space, making it possible to accommodate a substantial wedding while still feeling surrounded by the gardens and greenery of the park. After the ceremony, we took time for family and wedding party photographs around the park. The bridesmaids brought plenty of colour to the gardens in their yellow dresses, which worked beautifully against the greenery and flowers throughout Queen Elizabeth Park. We kept the family photographs organized and efficient while making room for a few more relaxed moments with the wedding party. These are the photographs that bring everyone together in one place… the people who were there to celebrate Ellie and Braden and who will be part of their memories for years to come.
Bride & Groom Portraits
Queen Elizabeth Park is one of those Vancouver wedding photography locations where you can get a surprising amount of variety without having to travel between multiple locations. The flowers, mature trees, greenery, pathways, bridges, and open spaces around the Duck Pond provided plenty of different backgrounds for Ellie and Braden’s portraits. We moved through a few areas of the park to take advantage of the scenery while keeping the focus on the two of them. Cocktail Hour & Lawn Games
After the formal photographs, everyone had some time to relax and enjoy lawn games around the park before heading up to the restaurant. This part of the day gave guests a chance to put the ceremony and formalities behind them and simply spend time together. From there, the celebration continued at Seasons in the Park, the restaurant located within Queen Elizabeth Park overlooking Vancouver. Having both an outdoor ceremony and reception at Seasons in the Park makes Queen Elizabeth Park a particularly convenient option for couples who want beautiful garden wedding photos without having to travel across the city between venues.
Reception & Dinner
The reception continued inside Seasons in the Park, where everyone gathered for dinner, speeches, and the rest of the evening's celebrations. The room filled with the people who had spent the afternoon together at the park, creating a completely different atmosphere from the outdoor ceremony. Between the speeches, cake cutting, dinner, and conversations between family and friends, there were plenty of moments happening around the room beyond the formal parts of the reception. Seasons in the Park provided a natural transition from an outdoor Queen Elizabeth Park wedding into a full Vancouver wedding reception.
Party Time!
Once the formalities were over, the evening turned into a party, and in Ellie and Braden’s case, karaoke was involved! Reception photos aren't always about perfectly lit portraits or carefully composed moments; sometimes the most important thing is capturing the energy of the room and what the night actually felt like. Venue lighting and the atmosphere of the space can make a huge difference, but I would always rather capture a real celebration than interrupt it trying to manufacture perfect photographs. The goal is to remember the people, the laughter, the music, and the slightly chaotic moments that made the party yours.
