Paige and Colby wanted to do a couples photoshoot somewhere that really showed off British Columbia, and Porteau Cove was a pretty easy choice. With Howe Sound right along the shoreline and mountains on the other side of the inlet, you get the kind of West Coast scenery that’s hard to recreate anywhere else. The rocky beach, evergreen trees, ocean, and mountains gave us plenty to work with without having to go far.

We spent the session walking around Porteau Cove and stopping whenever we found a view worth photographing. Some photos were more directed, while others were simply the two of them walking, talking, and enjoying being there together. Keeping things relaxed made it easy to get a good mix of portraits without having every photo feel overly posed.

For couples photography near Vancouver or Squamish, Porteau Cove is a great option for anyone looking to get out of the city and into a more natural setting. Paige and Colby’s photos have plenty of mountains and water in them, but the session still feels focused on the two of them rather than turning into a landscape shoot.
