Burnaby Mountain Sunset Proposal — Jason & Helena

Jason was determined to propose to Helena at sunset on Burnaby Mountain, even though it was the middle of winter and absolutely freezing. With the mountains and Burrard Inlet stretching out below, the viewpoint gave them an incredible Vancouver backdrop as the sun started to disappear. When Jason finally got down on one knee, the cold seemed to disappear pretty quickly… there were happy tears, plenty of laughter, and a very excited yes.

After the proposal, we spent some time exploring Burnaby Mountain and photographing the two of them together as the last light faded. The combination of winter scenery, golden sunset, and sweeping views made for some beautiful engagement photographs, while the excitement of what had just happened kept the whole session feeling incredibly natural.

What made this Burnaby Mountain proposal even more special was that it wasn't the last time I photographed Jason and Helena. A little later, they came back and I had the chance to photograph their intimate elopement as well, getting to document not just the moment they got engaged, but the moment they actually got married.
