Burnaby Mountain Elopement — Helena & Jason
Helena and Jason’s wedding at Burnaby Mountain was especially meaningful for me because I had photographed their surprise proposal at the same location. This time, they returned with their moms and a couple of close friends for an intimate elopement surrounded by beautiful roses, lush greenery, and sweeping views over Vancouver and Burrard Inlet. With only their closest people there, the day felt incredibly personal and full of genuine emotion.
The Centennial Rose Garden and surrounding Burnaby Mountain grounds gave us plenty of beautiful options for photographs. When the rain started after the ceremony, we simply made the most of it, embracing the weather and creating some amazing, atmospheric portraits rather than letting a little rain cut the day short. There was no need to rush through the day or fit everything into a tight schedule. We could take our time with family photos, portraits, and those in-between moments that often end up being some of the most memorable.
From photographing their surprise proposal to documenting the moment they finally got married, Helena and Jason’s Burnaby Mountain elopement felt like a continuation of their story. It was small by design, surrounded by the people they love, and a great example of how an intimate wedding or micro-wedding can still produce incredible photographs.
